SOUTH BEND - Vernon F. Wilson, 70, of 2301 E. Washington St., died, at 5:33 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Wilson retired from the former South Bend Tool and Die Co. after 42 years of service.

He was born Feb. 14, 1920, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On Oct. 9, 1948, in South Bend, he married Betty Collins, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Beverly Gramza of South Bend, Ruth Schoonover of LaGrange and Linda Boone of Columbus, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and a sister, Vera Spradlin of Tucson, Ariz.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the church choir and Kom Duble Sunday school class, Valleyaires Barbershop Quartet Chorus, Chords Galore Quartet and SPEBSQUA.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 today at Welsheimer Funeral p.m. Home, 521 N. William St.
