Barbara Kathleen (Waid) Lineback

Barbara Kathleen Waid Lineback, 91, passed away July 22, 2012, at Uplands Village in Pleasant Hill, TN. A memorial service will be held later in August at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Lena Minor Waid; husbands, Curtis R. Shook in 1956 and John F. Lineback in 2005; brother, Alan Waid; and stepdaughter, Marney Lineback Shaffer.

Mrs. Lineback was born Dec. 18, 1920, in Ft. Wayne, IN, moving to South Bend at age five. She attended Purdue University where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She then received her teaching degree from Goshen College and taught at Nuner Elementary School, South Bend, for 30 years.

In 1988, after 28 years of marriage, she and "Jack" retired to Fairfield Glade, TN, to their house on Malvern Lake, where they happily enjoyed making new friends and having a fun and busy life. She was a member of Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, John C. Shook (Ann) of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter, Judith A. Shook of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and close friend, John Heubi of Coalmont, Tenn.; stepson, James E. Lineback (Aree) of Layton, Utah; step-son- in-law William Shaffer, Boise, Idaho; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; plus nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held later in August at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, Tenn., where she was a member. The family appreciated all the loving care she received while at Lake, Wharton Home, Uplands. Memorial contributions may be made to Wharton Home.
