Irene M. (Szabo) Summers

Irene M. Summers, 77, of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Summers was born on Nov. 6, 1921, in South Bend.

She was previously employed with the former Max Adler's Shop, located in the Town and Country Shopping Center.

In South Bend, as Irene M. Szabo, she married Edward J. Summers, Jr., who preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1993. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Hildegarde Wojciechowski.

She is survived by her mother, Caroline Toth of South Bend; three sons, Frank Summers of South Bend, Edward Summers, Ill, of South Bend and Patrick Summers of Denver, Colo.; two grandchildren, Jason Edward Summers and Nicole Marie Summers; and by two nieces, one nephew, four great-nieces and two greatnephews.

A private family funeral will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 615 N. Alabama Street, Room 318, Indianapolis, IN 46204; or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 88-541, Chicago, IL 60680-1541.
