Muriel Jane (Keltner) King

PERRYSBURG - Muriel Jane "Moo-Pie" King, 82, of Perrysburg, died Tuesday (June 29, 2004) at Luke's Hospital, Maumee. Mrs. King was elected Perrysburg City Council, serving from 1989 to 1993. She served as an administrative assistant and secretary to the principal at Perrysburg Junior High School for more than 20 years, retiring in 1989. She also had worked as a Christian education Secretary for First Presbyterian Church in South Bend, Ind.

She received her bachelor's degree in 1943 from the University of Michigan. Her memberships included St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Perrysburg, where she sang in the choir and helped plan and design the memorial garden. She also was a member and past president of the University of. Michigan Alumni Association; a former officer and member of the League of Women Voters; and volunteer at Hospice of Northwest Ohio and at St. Luke's. An avid reader, she donated more than 600 books to the Way Public Library in Perrysburg, where she also had volunteered.

Born Nov. 18, 1921 in South Bend to Ralph and Ada (Collmer) Keltner, she married John Edward King on June 12, 1943. He died Nov. 2, 1994.

Surviving are three sons, Donald Jackson, East Lansing, Mich.; Douglas Edward, of Cincinnati; and David Howard, Homestead, Fla.; a daughter, Judith King Lamblin, Bay City, Mich.; a sister, Joann Miller, Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the church. Rev. C. Eugene Pearson will officiate. Burial will be private and there will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the hospice, 30000 E. River Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551; or the library, 101 E. Indiana Ave., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. Arrangements are being handled by, Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg.
