Albert Saul Katz
April 23, 1921 – June 26, 2009
MISHAWAKA — Albert Katz, originally from Mishawaka, died peacefully in his sleep on June 26th in Sunnyvale, CA. Albert was 88 years old. Adoring husband of Blanche Schultz Katz; brother of Morris (Cookie); father of Fred (Pam), Gerri (Walter), Harriet (Richard) Abbe (Craig); 11 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Al attended Nuner Elementary, Central High School, received a B.S. in electrical engineering from Purdue and an MBA from Indiana University. Albert was a first lieutenant in WWII, serving in the 290th Field Artillery.
Al consulted with industry, was well-respected for his teaching, and was writing a book on statistical quality control. He loved to dance with his wife, play bridge, study numerous languages, and never stopped pursuing his love of learning. He enjoyed lively conversation and discussing the events of the day, but most of all he loved taking his grandchildren to Potawatomi Park to feed the ducks. His gregarious manner and expansive smile will be missed. Burial was in San Francisco, CA, with a memorial planned for later in the summer in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
