STEVENSVILLE Warren R. Hafstrom, 90, of Stevens ville died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 8, 2011, at Golden Age Manor in Stevens-ville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs, with burial following in Rose Hill Cemetery, Berrien Springs. Warren was born Dec. 8, 1920, in South Bend, Ind., the son of Richard and Agda Elizabeth (Bergman) Hafstrom.

He graduated in 1939 from Central High School in South Bend. He proudly served his country with the United States Army Air Corps as an air cadet, and as a 2nd Lieutenant Corps Navigator with the Air Force during World War II. He married Rosemae Smith on Dec. 25, 1946, in South Bend. Warren studied Aeronautical Engineering at Cal-Aero Technical Institute in Glendale, Calif, graduating in May 1949. He worked as a design engineer for Whirlpool Corp. in the "Life Support Program" for NASA during the Gemini and Apollo space capsule days, retiring in 1983.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemae; daughter, Connie (Randall) Johnson of Indianapolis; three granddaughters, Amanda (Cory) Wiggington, Jennifer and Sarah Johnson; and two sisters, Elvera Bergstedt of Turlock, Calif, and Virginia Engstrom of Burlington, Wis.

Warren was preceded in death by a son, Gregory, on July 1, 1974
