Ward C. Barley, 55, R. R. 1, died Monday morning at Reid Memorial Hospital, Richmond, after an extended illness.

He was a physical education teacher at Liberty Elementary School and was employed by the Pinkerton Agency of Reid Memorial Hospital. Mr. Barley was a native of South Bend and attended Notre Dame University there. He was graduated from Ball State University in 1948 and was a World War II Air Corps veteran.

Survivors include his widow, Elizabeth; two sons, James and Ward C. both at home; one daughter, Linda, at home; two brothers, Richard and Clyde, both of South Bend, and one sister, Mrs. Joan Phillips of Leesburg, Fla. Private services for Mr. Barley will be Wednesday morning. Rev. Orrin D. Thayer will officiate.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 pjn. Tuesday at the Baker-Showalter Fodsick Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Union County Cancer Association. Home, Rev. O. W. Barber of the Second Baptist Church of Richmond, officiating. Burial will be in West Point Cemetery, Liberty. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.
