SOUTH BEND - Leo W. West Sr., 69, of 1128 Woodlawn Blvd., died 4:06 p.m. Tuesday in his home after an illness. Mr. West retired in 1989 as owner/operator of West Printing Co.

He was born Dec. 31, 1920, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On Nov. 9, 1944, in Hampton, Va., he married Janet Grove, who survives: Also surviving are a daughter, Marianne V. West of Chicago; a son, Leo W. Jr. of Naperville, Ill.; three grandchildren; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Wilkins of South Bend; and two brothers, Wilbur W. of South Bend and James H. of St. Petersburg, Fla.

He was a member and former trustee of Epworth Memorial United Methodist Church, past exalted ruler of South Bend Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 235, past worthy patron of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 2, and a member of Masonic Lodge 294, Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend and South Bend Press Club. He was a veteran of World War II.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Epworth Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521. N. William St. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc
