John A. Schwartz

Feb. 19, 1921 - April 3, 2000

John A. Schwartz. 79, of the Park Jefferson Apartments, South Bend, Ind., died after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday April 3.

On Oct. 21, 1971, he married Mayra Aponte, and had a daughter, Vivian Marie, who survives at home. He is also survived by five brothers, a sister, two sons and two daughters by a previous marriage: John, Jr., of California, Karen Mendez and Robert, both of Puerto Rico, and Beverly of lowa.

John graduated from Central Senior High School, enlisted in the Army as a paratrooper during World War II, and earned the rank of first lieutenant while serving in Africa and Europe. John opened his own business, known as Airmasters, in 1980 in South Bend.

Funeral services are private. The Welsheimer Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
