Joseph R. Sarul nee Sadural
Oct. 3, 1920 – May 15, 2004
Joseph R. Sarul, 83, of Walton Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 5:05 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, in Hospice House of St. Joseph County.
He was born on Oct. 3, 1920, in South Bend, to Joseph and Rafaela (Saenz) Sarul, who preceded him in death. A brother, Manuel Sadural, also preceded him in death in October 2002. On Jan. 7, 1956, in South Bend, Joseph married Mary L. Koon, who passed away on July 3, 1983.
Surviving Joseph is a daughter, Connie Sarul of Elkhart, Ind.; a son, Terry (Theresa) Sarul of South Bend; two grandchildren, Lisa (Pete) Redden of Granger, Ind., and Eric Sarul of South Bend; two great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Concha Quiroz of East Chicago, Ind.
Joseph served in the Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations, at Bougainville, Guam and Okinawa. He was employed as a supervisor for many years at Studebaker/ Cummin’s Foundry. In 1982 he retired after 14 years of service as a supervisor at the Miles/Bayer Corporation. He was a member of the YMCA.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, May 18, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St.Joseph County or to the American Diabetes Association.
