RENSSELAER, Feb. 8, --- The body of Pvt. Paul H. Howell, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Howell of north of Rensselaer arrived at the Jackson funeral home here today. Pvt. Howell was killed in action on Okinawa May 23, 1945. Born in Ethover, Tenn., June 22, 1919, he entered the service from South Bend Sept. 11, 1944. He was graduated from Central high school, South Bend, and married Dorothy Ruth Jackey. He was employed by the Banta Ball Bearing company before entering the service.
He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran church in South Bend, the Lutheran Men's club and Walther League. For his service in World War II he was awarded the Purple Heart. Surviving are the parents; the widow; a son, Paul Allen Howell, and a daughter, Susie Kay Howell, both of South Bend, a sister, Pauline K. Howell, living at the parental home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Jackson funeral chapel. Rev. Carl Sanger St. Lutheran church will charge; burial in Weston cemetery.
