Esther J. (Sanford) Chikar

Esther J. Chikar, 85, of Santa Maria, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2005. Esther was born on August 13, 1920 in Owosso, Michigan to Francis and Roselyn Sanford. She was raised and educated in South Bend, Indiana, attending St. Mary's College. While in college, she met and soon married Robert Chikar.

Esther retired from Raytheon in Oxnard prior to moving to Santa Maria 17 years ago. In her free time, Esther enjoyed bird watching, especially hummingbirds.

Esther is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert Chikar; son, Scott Chikar and his wife, Sue, of Ventura; daughter, Lisa Sullivan and her husband, Tim, of Ventura; grandchildren, Danielle, Jennifer, and Robert Chikar and Timothy and Paul Sullivan.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 22, 2005, followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Magner-Maloney Funeral Home, with Pastors David and Peggy Jacob from Shekinah Glory Christian Fellowship officiating. Private inurnment will be at a later date.
