Irving H. Rosenbaum

Irving H. Rosenbaum, 80, of Stocker Place, passed away at 12:28 p.m. Wednesday, March 20th, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center,
On July 28, 1942, he married Ruth Keene, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Bonita (S. Todd) Hoover of South Bend, Ind., and Linda (Horst) Gatz of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two grandchildren, Clark of Tel Aviv, Israel, and Rebecca (Jeff) Berger of Chicago, Ill.; and by a sister, Evalyne Halasz of Miami, Fla.
After graduating from the former South Bend Central High School in 1939 he attended the University of Notre Dame, receiving his bachelor's degree in business in 1942. He graduated in three-and-a-half years, pushing ahead because of the war. For three years of World War II, he was in the Army, a public relations writer for the Stars and Stripes.
He served in Northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. After the war, Irving returned to run his family-owned business, Rosenbaum's Clothiers, which had been founded in 1921 by his father. Irving retired in 1977. He was a member of B'nai B'rith and Sinai Synagogue. For many years he was treasurer of the Congregation Sons of Israel.
Services led by Rabbi Michael Friedland were held Friday in the Hay Funeral Home, followed by burial at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sinai Synagogue, to the Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley, or to the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana, Inc.
