SOUTH BEND - Phyllis I. Mahoney, 73, of East Ewing Avenue, died at 8 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka. Mrs. Mahoney was born Dec. 8, 1921, in Christopher, Ill., and lived in South Bend most of her life.

On Sept. 20, 1939, in South Bend, as Phyllis I. Pruett, she married Robert Joseph Mahoney. He died Feb. 6, 1988. She is survived by three daughters, Maureen Harris and Kathleen Mahoney, both of South Bend, and Melanie Barth of Bay City, Texas; two sons, Kevin of Noblesville and Rev. Robert J.; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Prior of Rockford, Ill.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Arthritis Foundation.
