Vivian R. (Palka) Michalski
May 22, 1921 - March 23, 2003
Vivian R. Michalski, 81, of South Bend, Ind., passed away following a brief illness at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, March 23, in Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 22, 1921, to the late Walter and the late Hattie (Niezgodski) Palka in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Michalski worked for the family business, Indiana Dairy, for 20 years until they closed in 1974.
On Nov. 2, 1940, as Vivian R. Palka, she married Edmund “Lefty” Michalski in South Bend. He survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Joyce J. Baker of South Bend; two sons, Thomas M. (Linda) Michalski and Gerald M. (Kathy) Michalski, both of South Bend; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and by two sisters, Mildred (Frank) Bielejewski of South Bend and Geraldine Kubiak of South Bend.
Mrs. Michalski was a member of St.Stanislaus Parish in South Bend.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, March 25, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with Rev. Michael C. Mathews, C.S.C., officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 415 N. Brookfield Street, South Bend, IN 46628
