Pfc. Robert H. Nickerson

Pfc. Robert H. Nickerson, serving with the army medical corps, was killed in action in France on Aug. 10. according to word received here Monday afternoon from the war department by his widow, Phyllis C. Nickerson, 803 Park avenue, the former Phyllis Fry. Private Nickerson, who was aged 23,. married Miss Fry here last Nov. 20.
He was born in South Bend March 5, 1921, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Nickerson, Sr., who are now residing in the Hotel Windermere, Chicago.
He was graduated in 1939 from Central High school and attended Michigan State college, East Lansing. Mich., and the Medical college of Indiana university, Bloomington. He entered the Army medical corps July 5, 1943. He trained first at Camp Grant, Ill., and then took special training at Walter Reed hospital, Washington, D. C. He had been overseas two and a half months. Private Nickerson was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and Nu Sigma Nu medical fraternity, both of Indiana.
Surviving besides his widow and parents are a sister, June M. Nickerson, of East Orange, N. J.: an uncle, Louis A. Stears, of South Bend. and a grandmother, Mrs. Nettie Hayes, of Long Beach, Calif.
