SOUTH BEND - Eloise Nemeth Szobocsan, residing in South Bend, passed away at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Arborwood Assisted Living, Granger, IN. She was 90 years old. She was born November 15, 1921, in South Bend, a daughter of Aurice & Emelia (Huber) Long, and had lived in South Bend most of her life. She moved to New Port Richey, FL, in 1987 and returned to South Bend this past June.

On July 19, 1940, in South Bend, she was united in marriage to Raymond "Punch" Nemeth, who passed away Sept. 28, 1987. Then, on June 3, 1989, she married Steve Szobocsan, who passed away on January 10, 1998. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Denny Klaer, on October 10, 1999.

Mrs. Szobocsan retired as a Teletype Operator in the Payroll Dept. at Sears & Roebuck Co. following 20 years of service. She was a longtime member of St. Jude Catholic Church in South Bend. Eloise was an avid golfer. She enjoyed dancing and playing bridge. But most important to her was being with her family whom she loved so dearly.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Art) Krol of South Bend; her son, Ronald (Judy) Nemeth of New Port Richey, FL; four grandchildren, Tom (Colleen) Nemeth of Perry, MI, Jeff Nemeth of Hillsdale, MI, Lisa (Jeff) Pethick of South Bend and Kristi Klaer of South Bend. Also surviving are 15 great-grandchildren; her sister, Shirley Nash of Avon Park, FL; and special friend, George Kass of New Port Richey, FL. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 9, at the Cathedral of St. Matthew. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend.
