Mae Louise Taft 86, Indianapolis, passed away August 23, 2008.

Mae was a teacher for IPS, retiring in 1982. She was a graduate, with honors, from the Indiana University School of Education, where she was a member of the Pi Lambda Beta education sorority, and was also a graduate of the Herron School of Art. Mae was also a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and the Indy Sam's #14 Camping Club. During WWII, she worked for the government, giving briefings to dignitaries about the war.

Mae is survived by her loving husband, Earl Taft; sons, John D. Taft and Larry Taft; and grandchildren, Jerilyn, Amber, Jake and Kirsten. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Arnold.

Services for Mae will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 in Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Washington Park East, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26. Burial will be in Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Lutherwood or the American Foundation for the Blind
