Helen J. (Janowiak) Borchers

Helen J. "Boots" Borchers, 79, of South Bend, IN, passed away on November 1, 2000, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. She was born in South Bend on July 16, 1921, to the late Anthony and Josephine (Kujawski) Janowiak. Mrs. Borchers was previously employed by the Bendix Corporation and Wyman's store.

On September 14, 1946, in South Bend, as Helen J. Janowiak, she married Gerald T. Borchers, who survives. She is also survived by two daughters, Josette Abrams of Lake Tippecanoe, Leesburg, IN, and Mary Flynn of Elmhurst, IL; two sons, David Borchers of South Bend and Jon Borchers of Los Angeles, CA; eight grandchildren, Kristen, Beth, Josh, Jaclyn, Leo, Emily, Meghan and Maria; three great-grandchildren, Alyshia, Amanda and Duane; one sister, D- Pat Piasecki of South Bend; and nieces and nephews, Carmen and Mark Piasecki, both of South Bend, Nancy Hanion of Fort Wayne, IN, Joann Hefer, Carol Nolder, and Tom Janowiak, of Springfield, IL, Rev. Paul Janowiak, S.J., of Seattle, WA, and Judy Emard of Fullerton, CA. Mrs.

Borchers was preceded in death by one sister, Esther Janowiak; and three brothers, Teddy, Ed and Leo Janowiak.

She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Parish and Altar and Rosary Society.

"All the people she touched became her extended family. Her love was unconditional and uncompromising. She was radiant with life. She will always be with us." .

Visitation for Helen will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Friday, November 3, 2000, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 PM, Saturday, November 4, 2000, in St. John the Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame, IN.
