VIOLA "VI" (HESS) PRITZEL

SOUTH BEND - Viola "Vi" Pritzel, 90, residing in South Bend, passed away in Healthwin on Thursday, January 12, 2012. She was born in Auburn, IN on August 1, 1921 to the late Elmer and Helen (Cazmierek) Hess.

Vi graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1939 and lived most of her life in this area.

On June 6, 1942 in South Bend, she married Richard G. Pritzel, who preceded her in death on December 15, 1983.

Vi worked in the bookkeeping and auditing department of Provincial House of Holy Cross, Notre Dame, for most of her life, retiring in 1987. She loved to golf, bowl & dance; she was also an active member of Little Flower Catholic Church and South Bend Turners.

Vi is survived by two sons, Thomas (Claudia) of Baldwin, NY and Richard of South Bend; two grandchildren, Nicole (Ryan) DeBroka and Sean Pritzel; and seven great grandchildren, including Anthony and Trey.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Russell J. Hess.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 in Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2012 in Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, and one hour prior to services on Monday at church. Contributions in memory of Vi may be donated to Alzheimer's & Dementia Services of Northern Indiana, 922 E. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, IN 46617.
