OLGA V. FISTER

Olga V. Fister Oct. 29, 1921 - April 21, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Olga V. Fister, 92, passed away at 11:30 pm Monday, April 21, 2014 in her residence. Olga was born on October 29, 1921, in South Bend, to the late Frank and Lucille Fister. She was a lifelong resident of South Bend. She is survived by numerous cousins in the United States as well in Burgenland, Austria.

Olga was a graduate of the former Central High School.

She enjoyed attending or watching football and baseball games and was an avid bowler, having attended many National, State and City Tournaments, and was a member of the South Bend-Mishawaka Women's Bowling Association, and was inducted into the Bowlers' Hall of Fame for emeritus service in 1984. Olga also received a 1st place award in 1963 for her editorials in Hits and Misses Magazine for the National Women's Bowling Writers.

After retiring from the former Bendix Corporation, she was a volunteer for the Leighton Center, RSVP, and College Football Hall of Fame, and for 20 years a volunteer for the Crime Prevention Unit of the South Bend Police Department for which she received Volunteer of the Year in 1998 from Mayor Steve Luecke. She was a member of the former St. Mary of the Assumption Church and currently a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church..

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Monday, April 28, 2014, in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-6 Sunday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 South Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 5:00 pm.
