Denise Carol (DuBois) Hannan

SOUTH BEND — Denise (DuBois) Hannan, 88, residing in South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 7:45 PM Saturday, April 17, 2010, in Sunset House, Mishawaka. Mrs.Hannan was born on August 30, 1921, in South Bend, IN, to Benjamin George and Mary Elizabeth (Hodge) DuBois, and remained a lifelong resident.

On December 30, 1939, she married Joseph Edward Hannan at the Log Chapel at the University of Notre Dame. Mr. Hannan preceded her in death on September 14, 1998.

Mrs.Hannan is survived by her daughter, Sheila (Thomas Hamlin, M.D.) Gresinger, Flint Hill, VA; her son, Joseph Edward “Patrick” (Kathy) Hannan, Jr., M.D., of Sebastopol, CA; seven grandchildren, Lisa Shipley, Mary Hannan, Deborah Nast, Patricia Stronko, Michael Brunelli, Peter Brunelli and Brigid Brunelli; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.

One brother, Joseph Hodge DuBois, preceded her in death.

Mrs.Hannan was a member of the Cathedral of St.Matthew’s, South Bend.She worked for Campfire Girls and Erica’s Craft and Sewing Center, Mishawaka. She volunteered for the American Red Cross and was very active in the Christ Child Society.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 18, 2010, at All Souls Chapel in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame, IN. Entombment will follow for both Denise and her husband, Joseph, at Cedar Grove Cemetery.Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Denise DuBois Hannan may be made to the Christ Child Society, 308 S.Scott Street, P.O. Box 1286, South Bend, IN 46624.
