Gladys C. Burkus

Gladys C. Burkus, 85, of Arborwood Living Center, Granger, Ind., formerly of Portage Avenue, South Bend, IN, passed away at 7:24 p.m., Friday, June 30, 2006, in the living center. Gladys was born on March 8, 1921, in South Bend, to Emery and Mary (Varga) Burkus. She retired in 1985 from Defense Contracts Administration Services Agency in South Bend, after 48 years of service.

Surviving is her niece, Mary Ellen Hogan of Beverly Hills, Calif.

Preceding her in death was her sister, Elsie E.Hogan, who died in 2002.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2006, in Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m.
