William R. Beecher

William R. Beecher, 62, of Eureka Springs, Ark., formerly of South Bend, died Monday in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fayetteville, Ark. He was a brick and stone mason in South Bend. Born on Aug. 30, 1920, in South Bend, he lived here until 1973, when he moved to Arkansas.

His wife, Mary Schoeler Beecher, survives with a daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Frances of Lafayette, Ind.; six sons, William of Ashland, Ore., Kevin of San Diego, Calif., Brian of Lemoore, Calif., Patrick of South Bend, and Timothy and Christopher, both of Lafayette; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Adele Muncie of Marion, Ind., and Mrs. Evelyn Wedeman of Downers Grove, Ill.

A memorial service is scheduled on Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Eureka Springs. Cremation has taken place. The Nelson's Funeral Home in Fayetteville was in charge of arrangements.

He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Golden Hills Post 8748 in South Bend, Eureka Springs Elks Lodge 1042, and a member and former business agent of I.U.B.A.C. Local 18 in South Bend
