Evangeline Frances (Batalis) Siomos
November 1, 1920 – February 23, 2011
Evangeline Frances Siomos, 90, of South Bend died peacefully at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 in Hospice House of Elkhart. Mrs. Siomos was born November 1, 1920 in Manchester, NH to the late Catherine (Gregoriou) and James Batalis and had lived in South Bend for 62 years coming from Manchester.
On June 6, 1948 in South Bend as Evangeline F. Batalis she married Anthony C. Siomos who preceded her in death September 4, 1967. She was also preceded in death by a son, Nicholas A. Siomos in 1992, and three brothers, Milton, Paul, and Nicholas Batalis.
She is survived by a daughter, Marina K. Watkins (Charles) of Niles, MI; a son James A. Siomos of Elkhart; six grandchildren, Toni Siomos Bailey (Greg) of Elkhart, Nicole Carithers (Chris) of Elkhart, Alyssa Litwiller (Kent) of Goshen, IN, Jaime N. Atkinson (Michael) of Elkhart, Scott Watkins of Niles, and Andrew Watkins (Kristy) of LaGrange, IN; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Peter Batalis (Lois) of Peoria, AZ.
Mrs. Siomos retired from the United States Postal Service as a clerk. She had also been employed for a number of years at Bendix as a secretary. She enjoyed volunteering and was active with the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross and the Studebaker National Museum. She was a member of St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Good Samaritan Club and the Daughters of Penelope.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 28th in St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. George Konstantopoulos officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday, February 27thth in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N.
