Stanley Edward Bailey, Jr., age 91, of Grandville, and formerly of South Bend, Indiana, went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, September 20, 2012. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie Bailey. Stanley will be lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 20 years, Alice Bailey (Chamberlain); his children, Amy (Michael) Barnes and Doug Bailey; Alice's children, Pat (Karen) Hartwick, Amy Lambries and her daughter-in-law, Mary Hartwick; his 9 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Stanley grew up in South Bend, Indiana, where he won a State Swimming Championship while attending South Bend Central High School. He served in the Army Air Corps, flying B-29's. Stanley earned a Bachelor's Degree from Notre Dame and continued to be a faithful fan of the school; especially their storied football program. He retired in 1983 from LaSalle Steel, where he worked as a salesperson. Throughout Stanley's life you could always count on him being near water. He loved Florida in the wintertime and enjoyed being out on the boat on Lake Michigan in the summer.

Memorial services will be held 11 AM Friday, September 28 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3937 Wilson Ave. SW in Grandville, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 AM. Father Chris Rouech will be officiating. In honor of Stanley, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Baruch Ministry – for education opportunities for the staff at Georgetown Manor.
