Vera N. (Ashbaugh) Reeder

Vera N. Reeder, 81, of West 15th Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 3:50 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind. Vera was born in South Bend on Aug. 9, 1920, as the daughter of the late Charles Glenn and Martha Alma (Meyer) Ashbaugh.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ray Ashbaugh.

In 1950, as Vera Ashbaugh, she married Royce Reeder, who preceded her in death in February 1954. Vera was also preceded in death by her companion, Edward Lemanski in August 1999.

Vera is survived by two sons, Royce John (Patti) Reeder and Charles (Peggy) Reeder, both of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Rebecca Reeder, Charlene Reeder, Caitlin Reeder, Bryan Reeder and Brendan Reeder; and by a great-aunt, Eve of Chicago, Ill.

Vera worked in contract negotiations for the U.S. Navy in the Civil Service Department for 30 years before retiring in 1982. She was a member of Eastern Star Lodge #2, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. today, Jan. 20, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, in the Coalbush United Methodist Church on Jackson Road
