Richard D. Allemang

CEDAR RAPIDS Richard D. Allemang, 85, of 1650 Koehler Dr. NW, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006, in St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. It was Richard's wish to be cremated. There will be no visitation or services. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Mary, are a son, Douglas G. Allemang (Debbie) of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Janalee M. Kosowski (Ed) of Cedar Rapids, Sarah L. Sauerbry (Jim) of Lindstrom, Minn., and Diane S. Allemang (Jim) of Arlington, Va.; a brother, Robert D. Allemang of Fort Myers, Fla.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Louise; and two brothers, Herbert and Paul.
Richard was born May 16, 1921, in Mishawaka, Ind., the son of George William and Effie Mae (Fishburn) Allemang. He married Mary Justice on July 1, 1950, in Logansport, Ind. Richard worked at Rockwell Collins from 1960 to 1984 as an engineer. He was a member of Sigma Pi, Friends of the Public Library, the Cedar Rapids Historical Committee and Iowans for the Prevention of Gun Violence.
He served in the British Army in the American Field Service.
