Sally Mae (Barrier) Horstmann

Edwardsburg - Sally Mae Horstmann, 87, of Edwardsburg, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Cass County Medical Care Facility.

Sally was born April 28, 1934 in South Bend to the late Floyd and Myrtle (Jones) Barrier. She grew up in South Bend and Mishawaka and was a graduate of Central High School in South Bend.

Sally married Roy K. Horstmann on July 26, 1952. They lived most of their married life in Edwardsburg.

Before starting a family, she worked at Uniroyal in Mishawaka. She then became a full-time homemaker. She enjoyed yard work, flower gardening, feeding the birds, going to the casino and spending time with her sisters.

Sally's family was the center of her life. Those surviving include her two children, Douglas (Susan) Horstmann of Cassopolis and Lori (Biff) Nedderman of Punta Gorda, Florida; five grandchildren, Steven, Michelle, Stacey, Andrea and Allison; and five great grandchildren; and Sally's special dog, Sam.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; a brother, Ellis "Dick" Barrier; and three sisters, Juanita Shafer, Mary Watson and Rose Holston.

Services will be held at 11 am on Monday in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Pastor Larry Chrisman officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Cemetery, South Bend.

Visitation will be from 10 – 11 am on Monday.

Memorials are suggested to Cass County Medical Care Facility.
