Well Known Chicago Newspaper Man Expires After Brief Illness.

Harry C. Bentley, for a number of years employed in the editorial departments of Chicago newspapers, died yesterday in the Passavant hospital of jaundice and complications, after an illness of ten days.

Mr. Bentley was born in South Bend, Sept. 18, 1876, and was graduated from the South Bend high school. Later he taught school for a short time. He came to Chicago in 1898 and for two years attended Rush Medical college, abandoning his studies there to enter the employ of the Chicago Record.

Later he served on the Chicago Journal and The Inter Ocean, and three years ago became a member of the Record-Herald staff, position which he held to the time of his death.
There will be brief services at noon today in Arnizen's chapel, 247 North Clark street, after which the body will be taken to South Bend, where his father resides. The burial will be in the latter cemetery at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
