Charles Harold Hoffman - Class Of 1947 VIEW PROFILE

Charles Harold Hoffman

Mar. 11, 1929 - Jan. 7, 1988

Chuck was born in South Bend, Indiana and while attending Central High School, he played basketball for a short time with the famed John Wooden as his coach. After high school he attended Acme Tool and Die School in South Bend and soon after began working as a Tool and Die Design Engineer both in South Bend and Chicago. He married Alice McDuffie and they spent their honeymoon traveling and relocating to the West Coast. Their first address was Hermosa Beach living in an apartment located one half block from the beach and the Pacific Ocean.....their dream!

In California, Chuck had a job the day after he arrived, at a small engineering company near the LAX airport, then moved on to Lear-Siegler Corporation in El Segundo and finally spent most of his working time at Ford Aerospace in Newport Beach, California. Here he was a program engineer, working on such defense projects as the Sea Chapparel Anti-aircraft missile defense system.

He lived with his family in Costa Mesa, California for most of his married life, and vacationed with his family often in their little casa on the beach in Ensenada, Mexico.

Above all, Chuck loved his family, was a devoted husband and the father of three beautiful daughters. He is remembered most lovingly.

Written by his wife, Alice McDuffie Hoffman.
