SOUTH BEND - Donald E. Norton, 61, of Beutter Lane, died at 4:20 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Norton was a former plumber for Local 172 of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Union and was a tax preparer for 25 years. He was born Sept. 22, 1934, in Erie, Pa., and lived in South Bend since 1942.

On Dec. 15, 1951, in South Bend, he married Ruth A. Easton. She survives with a daughter, Susan N. Roberts of Bloomington, Ind.; a son, D. Andrew of Lake Arrowhead, Calif.; seven grandchildren; his mother, Bernice C. Norton of South Bend; a sister, Barbara Powers of South Bend; and a brother, John of South Bend. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a graduate of Indiana University South Bend.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Cremation will take place, with burial in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., where a wake will be at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Michiana Chapter of National Spinal Cord Injury Association, in care of Steven Weldy, 951 E. Market St., Nappanee, IN 46550.
