Clifford Witkowski - Class Of 1955 VIEW PROFILE

MISHAWAKA - Clifford W. Witkowski, 83, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Ernestine M Raclin House, in Mishawaka, IN.

Clifford was born in South Bend, IN, the third son of Joseph and Theresa (Klosowski) Witkowski on June 26, 1937.

Cliff married the love of his life Josephine K. Boxwell on May 20, 1961 creating a loving marriage that spanned over 60 years.

He is survived by his wife and their three children Craig (Loraine)Witkowski, Rhonda Hanchar and David (Sharon) Witkowski. Cliff is also survived by grandson Brent (Yvette) Witkowski and Grand Daughter Miranda Hanchar, as well as two great grandsons, Isiah and Joshua Witkowski. Cliff is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Kenneth and James Witkowski.

Cliff graduated from South Bend Central High School, Class of ‘55. Cliff was a U.S Naval company commander at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center and aboard the USS Eversol DD789 during the Cold War. After his military service, he attended The Chicago Institute of Art, The American Academy of Art and The Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. Upon completion he returned to South Bend and founded Witkowski Art Studio and worked out of the home studio for over 35 years. During this time Cliff and Jo worked on numerous local, regional and national creative accounts. After officially retiring Cliff pursued his love of cartooning and created “GI WOES”.

Cliff was active in the Jaycees, Boy Scouts of America and a 50 year member, and past President of The Roseland Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. Cliff was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW.

Some of his many hobbies included trout fishing, upland bird hunting, Notre Dame Football Home Games and making homemade Kielbasa with family, and time at Simonton Lake.

Cliff put his heart and spirit into the things that mattered most: His faith, family, and career. He leaves a legacy of which to be proud; one of integrity, compassion, loyalty and gentle strength.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 11AM at Queen of Peace Church, Mishawaka, IN with visitation at 10AM. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in “Field of Honor Veterans Section” with military honors.
