Beatrice May (Lechlitner) Young

April 5, 1909 - Jan. 30, 1997

Beatrice May Young, 87, formerly of Logan Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away of natural causes at 3:59 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Fountainview Place Nursing Home, Mishawaka. Mrs. Young retired in 1971 from Ball Band/Uniroyal Corp. after 45 years in the mailroom.

She was born on April 5, 1909, in Mishawaka, Ind., to the late Sherman Ray and Bertha Matilda Lechlitner. Mrs. Young was a lifelong area resident.

On Oct. 1, 1938, in Jimtown, she married James P. Young, who preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1966.

She is survived by three nieces, Karen Dobbins (Don) Jordan, Sharon Orr, and Linda Roach-Jordan, all of Mishawaka; two nephews, Bob (Raye Nelle) Orr of Florida, and Duane (Jan) Roach of South Bend.

There are several great- and great-great nieces and nephews also surviving. Four sisters preceded Beatrice in death, Helen Dobbins, Gladys Cullers, Dorothy Orr, and Vivian Roach: Helen and Gladys were twin sisters.

Mrs. Young attended the River Park Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, at the Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rolland Steever will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at the funeral home.
