Carl A. Holstein

Carl A Holstein, 69, of 3522 Sorin, was dead on arrival at noon Wednesday at the Lee Memorial Hospital, Dowagiac, after an apparent heart attack. He was a retired grocer. He and a relative had gone to a lake cottage near Dowagiac to clear snow from the roof when he was stricken.

He was born Aug 7, 1909 in South Bend and was a lifetime resident.

He and his wife, Martha, were married on Sept 12, 1936. In South Bend. She survives along with a daughter, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Holdread of South Bend; a son. Michael E. of Tarry town. N.Y.; two grandchildren; a sister. Mrs. Larry Frepan of Venice Fla.; and a brother, Donald of South Bend.

He was a 30 year member of the American Turners of South Bend.
