Donald W. Zellers
March 30, 1920 - June 3, 2005
Donald W. Zellers, 85, formerly of South Bend, passed away following an extended illness Friday afternoon, June 3, in Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born in Virgie, Ind., on March 30, 1920, the son of Warren W. and Ida Pearl Mallatt Zellers. Donald had moved to South Bend at the age of 14, and graduated from Central High School in 1937.
Mr. Zellers worked for South Bend Lathe, retiring in 1985 after 45 years. Donald was a World War II Air Force navigator, a member of Masonic Lodge 44, Chapter 29 of the Royal Arch Masons, Commandry 13 Knights Templar, Bowlers Country Club, Post 357 American Legion and Z.B. Falcons
Survivors include two sons, Robert M. Zellers (Sandra), Muncie, and David D. Zellers (Linda), Irvine, Calif.; two grandchildren, Justin R. Zellers and Kimberly Jansen (Marc).
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Alice; and one brother, Dean.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph County Humane Society, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545. The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory is in charge of local arrangements.
