Genevieve Van Doren

SOUTH BEND - Genevieve VanDoren, 94, passed away at 2:35 AM Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Golden Living - Fountainview, Mishawaka, IN. She previously worked as a secretary for five years at Clark Equipment; twenty years for Studebaker Corp in the office; and retired in 1983 after eleven years as secretary at AM General Corporation. Genevieve was born on September 4, 1919 in South Bend, IN to the late Earl D. and Hazel (Wendel) VanDoren and remained a lifelong resident.

Genevieve is survived by her nephews, Vincent Michael Trainor of Williamsburg, VA; Dennis Trainor of Burke, VA; nieces, Sharron Cotogno of Fritz Creek, AK and Kathleen Halcrow of Greenville, SC and her cousin, Shirley Slabaugh of South Bend. Two sisters, Virginia Mardelle-Trainor and Margaret Eileen VanDoren; and her brother, Lyle VanDoren all preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend, IN, where friends may visit from 12 Noon until time of services. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN.
