Virginia "Jill" (Smanda) Moore

Virginia "Jill" Moore, 63, of 20447 Darden Road, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's Medical Center following an extended illness. She retired in 1977 from Saint Mary's College after seven years there. She was born on Nov. 5, 1919, in Detroit, Mich., and had lived in South Bend most of her life.

On April 23, 1942, in Centreville, Mick, she married Myron 0. Moore, who died Oct. 30, 1977. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Cecylia K. Dunning of Valparaiso; a son, Brendan R. Moore of South Bend; a stepson, Ronald T. Moore of Hixson Tenn.; three grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Irene O'Malley, Mrs. Josephine Regan and Miss Patricia Smanda, all of South Bend, and Sister Gertrude Smanda, C.S.C., of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph Fey, C.S.C., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Welsheimer North Chapel, 528034 U.S. 33 N., where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

She was a member of Christ the King, past president of the Altar and Rosary Society, and a member of the Social Action Commission of the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the St. Joseph's Medical Center Renal Fund.
