Oscar Shaevel

Oscar Shaevel, age 73 of Griffith, formerly of Gary, Indiana passed away Monday, June 15, 1992 at Community Hospital, Munster. He is survived by loving wife, Shirley; two sons, James (Lois) Shaevel of Houston, Texas and Robert (Rebecca) Shaevel of Libertyville, Illinois; one daughter, Evelyn Shaevel of Chicago; three grandchildren, Rachel, David and Daniel; one brother, Donald L. (Geri) Shaevel of Palm Springs, California; many nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. at the Beth El Cemetery in Portage with Rabbi Rafael Ostrovsky officiating. There will be no visitation.
Mr. Shaevel was the former owner of the Shaevel Pharmacy in Gary, Indiana; a 1941 graduate of Purdue School of Pharmacy; member Temple Beth Israel; member of the B'nai B'rith; member of the Lake County Pharmaceutical Association and served in the U.S. Army from 1943. to 1946 in the Pacific.
