Elvera F. Keb, 82, residing on North Main Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away following a lengthy illness at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, in the Countryside Place Nursing Home, Mishawaka. She was born Oct. 17, 1919, in LaPorte, Ind., as the daughter of Walter and Lydia (Everet) Sass, and has been a lifelong resident of this area.

On June 17, 1943, in South Bend, as Elvera Sass, she married Raymond A. Keb, who survives. She is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John M. and Rita Keb of Mishawaka; a grandson, Andrew Keb of Mishawaka; and two sisters, Lois Batalis of Phoenix, Ariz., and Geraine "Gerry" Brossman of Vandalia, Mich.

She was preceded in death by a baby daughter, Linda Jo Keb, and by a brother, Bill Sass.

She received her nursing degree in 1940 from Epworth Memorial School of Nursing, South Bend. She then went to work as a nurse at the Bendix Corporation for several years in the First Aid Room. After she raised her family, she served as a registered nurse with the University of Notre Dame for 27 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Epworth. Memorial Nurses Alumni Association.

Services for Mrs. Keb will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, 24, in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. John Hall, pastor of Willow Creek United Methodist Church, Mishawaka, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park.
