Chester A. Rys, 52, of 23992 Grant Rd., died at 2:08 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Hospital after an extended illness. He was an employee of the Bendix Corp. He was born on July 3, 1919 in South Bend, and had lived here all of his life.
On Jan. 31, 1948, in Michigan City, he married Stephanie Ratenski, who survives, along with a son, Marvin, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Ann Kubiak of South Bend, and Miss Kathryn Rys, at home; a grandchild; a brother, Alex, and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Kajzer and Mrs. Dolores Sobieralski, all of South Bend.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Holy Family Catholic Church, Rev. Joseph G. Lesniak, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mr. Rys was a member of Post 357, American Legion, and Lodge 1456, P.N.A., Michigan City.
A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. today and 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home
