Former Corning Mayor, Dead at 66

CORNING Jesse E. - Pulliam, 66, of Corning, died at about 8 p.m. Friday at the VA Medical Center. He served as mayor of Corning from 1979 to 1982.

He was born August 16, 1918, in Clay County, Ark.

On June 2, 1938, he was married in Houston, Texas, to Emma K. Kern, who survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Pat Leonard and Annie Riggan, both of Corning; two sisters, Mary Alice Cunningham of Success, Ark., and Audrey Faye Russell of Corning; four grandsons and two granddaughters.

He was the superintendent of Corning Water Department for 12 years. He was a member of Corning Masonic Lodge No. 719, the Scottish Rite Temple in 1 Little Rock, Ark., and the Order of the Eastern Star in Brentwood, the Corning Chamber of Commerce and the First Baptist Church of Corning. He was a Shriner of the Sahara Temple in Pine Bluff, Ark.

He was a retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant and a retired businessman of Corning.

Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ermert Funeral Home with the Revs. Dennis Jones and Chuck Gray officiating. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today. Memorials are to be sent to Corning Public Library
