James Richard Mazar

SOUTH BEND - James Richard Mazar, 71, of Allen Street, died at 9:52 a.m. Monday in Memorial Hospital. Mr. Mazar retired from Commonwealth Life Insurance as manager. He was born April 24, 1919, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

He is survived by a sister, Frances Mazar of South Bend; four nieces; and four nephews.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the church choir, was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and served in the Navy during World War II.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Cremation will follow at Riverview Crematory and burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., where a parish wake will be said at 3:30 p.m.
