Alice Irene (Keltner) Axton

Alice Irene Keltner Axton, 78, of West Lafayette, died at 11:05 AM Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, in Murdock Manor Nursing Home. Born Dec. 27, 1919, at South Bend, IN, she grew up there and graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1937. She married Theodore P. "Ted" Axton on Feb. 6, 1942, in Indianapolis, and he survives. He is a retired president of Lafayette Savings Bank.

Mrs. Axton graduated from Purdue University in 1941 with a degree in home economics. She taught home economics at Noblesville before her marriage. She moved from Indianapolis to Lafayette in 1946. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in West Lafayette, PEO Sisterhood, John Purdue Club and Lafayette Country Club.

Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Marilyn (Mrs. Joe) Rierden of Green Oaks, IL; two sons, Ted C. Axton of Antioch, IL, and Robert O. Axton of Sherwood, OR; and eleven grandchildren. Preceded in death by two brothers.
