Walter Joseph Hein

Walter J. Hein, 68, of Fort Wayne, formerly of South Bend, died at 10:34 a.m. Monday at his residence. Mr. Hein was employed by General Electric in Fort Wayne for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Coldwater, Ohio.

Surviving are his wife, Fane; three sons, Alfred J. of Bloomington, Ind., Andrew G. of Indianapolis and Steven V. of Dallas; three daughters, Catheryn Martin of Nashville, Ind., Elizabeth Akey of West Lafayette, N.Y., and Patricia Warrick of Columbia, Mo.; two sisters, Rita Monaco of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Rosemary Soisson of Kalamazoo; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Hein was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Jude's Catholic Church, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Heart Association or St. Mary's Catholic Church Soup Kitchen, Fort Wayne.
