James E. Hartzer

James E. Hartzer, 68, of 1502 Wildflower Way, died at 11:26 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Hartzer was senior project engineer for the Bendix Corp. since 1939.

He was born July 11, 1919, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. His wife, the former Betty Murphy, survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Timothy and Craig, both of South Bend; five grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Wack of Wheeling, W. Va.; and a brother, Joseph of Jacksonville, Fla.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive, where a wake will be at 7 p.m.
