Jack James Gerard, 81, of Endwell, died November 30, 2001 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
He leaves behind his wife, partner and best friend of 57 years, Doris Bower Gerard. He also leaves behind two daughters, of whom he was very proud of, Claudia Christine Gerard, Calif. and Mary Lynn Gerard Detwiler, (husband Larry), Ind.; two grandchildren, Josh and Sarah Detwiler.
Jack was an Air Force Veteran of WWII.
A graduate of Purdue University School of Mechanical Engineering and had retired from General Electric after 43 years of service. While at General Electric, he especially enjoyed working in the Manufacturing Management Program, serving as the advisor for new G.E. manufacturing trainees. He was a member of the N.Y. Society of Professional Engineers, the Elfun Society and the Masonic Lodge.
Following his retirement in 1989, Jack was able to donate more time to community activities. Jack was very involved in S.C.O.R.E., which allowed him to combine his enjoyment of training, counseling and teaching with his business experience. He was also active with the Meals on Wheels of Western Broome program serving as a member of the board and the weekly meal delivery team.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 29 Grant Ave., Endicott with the Rev. Jan Devine, Pastor of his church officiating. The family will receive friends in the church lounge Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m.
