Orleta "Ione" Gebhard Edler

Sept. 23, 1919 - May 5, 2005

lone Edler, age 85, of Mishawaka, passed away Thursday evening, May 5, 2005 in her home. lone was born September 23, 1919, a daughter of the late Milo and Bernice (Wheeler) Gebhard. She grew up in South Bend and graduated from South Bend Central High School. On July 3, 1946, lone married Carl Edler.

They lived in South Bend before moving to Mishawaka in the late 1960's. lone was a beautician working from her home, but most of all she was a home-maker. She was an active person who enjoyed quilting, reading, baking, playing cards and bowling, lone also loved outdoor activities including flower gardening, golfing and summer afternoons at the Blair Hills swimming pool. She also enjoyed spending time at Gravel Lake in Michigan and wintering in Florida, lone's family was a very important part of her life. She loved having her family together and she was very dedicated in attending her grandchildren's activities.

lone's surviving family includes her sons, Robert (Wendy) Blohm of Canton, Michigan and Larry (Bev) Edler of Mishawaka; a stepson, Thomas Edler of California; and a step-son-in-law, Jim Bruce of Arizona; six grandchildren, Ann, Lori, Greg, Kent, Ryan and David; and a great granddaughter, Gabriela.

lone was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1988; a stepdaughter, Ann L. Bruce; and a brother, Bob Gebhard.

Friends may spend time with lone's family today (Saturday) from 4:00 - 7:00 pm in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 West Third Street, Mishawaka. Services will be held Monday at 11:00 am in the Chapel at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger with her grandson-in-law, Pastor Jeremy LeVan officiating.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
