Robert E. Chikar

Robert E. Chikar, 91, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, following a lengthy illness. He was born on Dec. 30, 1919 in South Bend, Ind., to George and Helen (Folky) Chikar.

Robert resided in Santa Maria for 19 years before settling in Ventura in 2007. Robert was an electrical engineer with Raytheon of Oxnard for 45 years, retiring in 1983. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Robert enjoyed music, and was an avid Ham Radio Operator, but his true passion in life was sailing.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Esther (Sanford) Chikar, six years ago. They were married for 64 years.

He is survived by his son and daughter, Scott Chikar and Lisa Sullivan of Ventura; grandchildren, Timothy Sullivan, Danielle Chikar, Jennifer Chikar, Robert Chikar and Paul Sullivan; and great-granddaughter, Brielle Denson.
