Memorial services for Richard C. Calahan, 61, of Fanwood, N.J.. formerly of South Bend, who died Saturday in Muhlenberg Hospital, Plainfield, N.J., will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Fanwood Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member, deacon and elder. Rev. Bernard F. Johnson will officiate. Memorial Funeral Home of Fanwood is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions made to the memorial fund of the church or the Union County Society for Crippled Children and Adults, 108 Eastman St., Cranford, N.J.. 07016.
He was born Nov. 22, 1919, in South Bend.
He was, employed as the manager of quality services with the Singer Company in New York City since 1945, retiring in 1969. He was employed at Bendix Corp. of South Bend 1941-42, the Glen L. Martin Company, Maryland, from 1942-45, and the Singer Company of South Bend from 1945-54.
He married Jeanette Gallagher. She survives along with three daughters, Sharon Kennedy of Fanwood, N.J., Lynn C. Rosenberg of Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa., and Patricia C. Vencill of Lexington, Ky.; a son, Scott C. Calahan of Sudbury, Mass.; four grandchildren: and a sister, Wilma Monette of South Bend.
He was a 1941 graduate of the University of Illinios.
